lie still, little bottle

Potty mouths Unite!!

I added a link to the letter crabs in the last post.  They’re from Learning Resources and I bought them at our favorite toy store in town, Larsons, but they’re widely available on the web.  I pulled the link from Amazon.

In addition to swearing like a sailor, Astrid M has hit another milestone, she’s given up her bottle.  I knew she’d do it when she was ready, and she has far fewer of them now than she did even 6 months ago, but on Tuesday we shockingly said, “bye bye money leeches bottles.”  She still asks for one before nap and bedtime, but after she cries for a minute, she remembers that we’re going to have a party (with a present) now that she is BIG, and then she asks for another book (sure kid, ask away).  In case any one’s resolve weakens, I’ve already packed all of the bottles and rings away with the two new boxes of drop-in liners.  Elliott remarked that it might have been better if she had chosen to get off the sauce before we bought new liners, but I’m happy to let that money go to ‘waste.’  And it didn’t really, the liners and beloved bottles go to our friends, the adored Amy & Joel,  instead.

I wanted to mention too, that in a state of spring cleaning-inspired whimsy, I decided to tidy my bookcases.  nothing terribly odd there, except, I’ve gotten in to my head that our tired paperbacks will look fresher and more inviting if wrapped in brown paper.  I know this is nuts (not to mention inconvenient when searching for a title) but I cannot stop.  I’ll take before and after photos so you can admire my decorator’s eye weigh in on which looks better.

You ARE kidding about putting paper on the paperbacks… right?? :)

Nope, not kidding about the paper-covered paperbacks, although I’ve taught Elliott how to do it and I’m paying him 10 cents for each book he covers well. I’ll bet he does 2 dozen before the end of the day leaving me more time to clean out closets and such. My life is so exciting!
